The Murdoch House
Walter Murdoch delivered the mail in Tottenham and area from the 1920’s to the mid 1940’s. The family lived in a red brick house on Queen St., in Tottenham.
The Christmas Pageant
My father went to a one room school house with his many siblings in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. Although they didn’t have much, they celebrated Christmas with enthusiasm and a sack of oranges was a real treat! Gathering for the Christmas Pageant would have been a big event.
Harvesting the Ice
Before electricity the locals would gather together to harvest blocks of ice from nearby rivers and ponds. The ice would then be stored in ice houses to provide cooling for their perishables throughout the year.
Fluffy takes a Ride
Spring is here and Fluffy has decided to travel in style while taking in the sights on this beautiful day!
The snowman is completed and two little girls test the ice with their loving pet looking on.
A Night Out
The barn dance was a much celebrated event. A time to visit with neighbours, exchange news and perhaps meet a special someone!
Snow Falls Gently
The children are having a great time, there is nothing like new fallen snow to get everyone outside.
Uncle Joe's Pumpkins
The pumpkins are loaded and ready to take home, mom will be busy all afternoon baking the much loved pumpkin pies.
Wild Goose Chase
The geese give chase as an unwelcome visitor arrives, a mother robin gets in on the action as well!
