This wonderful old house house was known by the locals as the Gables. As children we were convinced that it was haunted and Hallowe’en just added to the lore of ghosts and goblins lurking in the shadows. My friend and I always rushed past hoping to avoid a spooky encounter.

Excitement fills the air as children arrive at school in a horse drawn wagon. A little girl stands by anxiously on her first day with her mother at her side. Older boys bring firewood into the school, preparing for the chilly days ahead.
